I don't want you to think I've forgotten you, but I did want to find the right place first. 💕 I found a hidden gem of a coffee shop! ☕ Will you be able to meet tomorrow afternoon?
I have a better idea. Why don't you come find me in the square? I'll be there by 1400.
( The one where they danced, of course. It shouldn't be too hard; it's not exactly crowded outside of the festival, now, and it gives them time to walk and talk to the cafe. )
[Ignoring the timestamp He waited until the amplified traits seemed gone and things were back to some semblance of normal before contacting Henry. The extra time also let him learn how these devices worked]
I go there a lot. Found this man trying to sell black market goods the other day. Thought you might want to join me and see what we can find. Maybe you'll get to see me in action.
[He has no idea what that last symbol is. Is it supposed to mean something? Some kind of future code? Strange. But anyway, he'll be waiting on Level Three, maybe a bit eager. Jacob did say he wanted to see how he felt without the amplification, so he's about to find out]
{ Being at level 2, like most of the newly imported Moonblessed, it doesn't take him too long to get down to that level. He's not entirely sure where to meet the guy, but he figures the best way to go about it is first, get there, then second, text the guy back. }
[There's no answer from him as he is heading over there. And he just drops down from one of the roofs. This is clearly why the Cordis moon gave him cat traits]
{ Hey, wait, that's usually his MO. Two peas a pod, these two. When Jacob drops from above, he simply tilts his gaze upward and smiles. Hell, he half-expects the cat ears and tail to still be there, with those sort of movements. }
Hello to you, too.
{ He latches a metallic handle that he'd been holding onto a loop of his pants, then gestures vaguely towards the area. }
Right. I heard some prisoners escaped level four earlier today. Let's see if we can find them and bring them back.
[He sets off down the street. He also heard that the prisoners could be skittish and so doesn't try to draw attention to himself as he looks around at the various shops and buildings, slipping his way into crowds and following the flow of foot traffic whenever he can]
{ Trying not to draw attention to yourself? Well, for now, this is probably fine. Henry can't make any promises, however. He may have instincts of a good assassin, but his style of...operations is pretty different. Blame his medium. }
Was there a reward?
{ Just curious. He tails behind Jacob relatively comfortably, not too close nor too far, taking in the sights of level 3 as it all comes rushing back to him. He'd rather liked it down here, as he recalls. Despite his well-tailored and somewhat out of place outfit, he manages to avoid too many curious gazes as he weaves between people to keep up. Not bad at all... then again, he'd expect no less from someone he assumes now is some kind of assassin or mercenary. }
Sure. They'll give you a bit of... not Chroma, but the other one. It's not as good as the other stuff, but better than nothing.
[Well, Jacob is insisting on wearing his Victorian-era clothing, so he stands out pretty strongly, too. But people wear all sorts of odd things, so maybe it all evens out. As he walks he checks his sixth sense.
Finally he spots an escapee, nudging Henry]
Found one. Wait here.
[He is oh so casual about walking up right behind the escapee. Then he suddenly grabs them by the arm, twisting it around and unsheathing his hidden blade so it's pointing at the back]
{ Demi-chroma, of course. Seems straight-forward enough, at least. He swipes a drink from a nearby stall as he continues to keep his gaze on the activity at hand. Jacob has a grace about him, for sure, almost like there's some sort of homing beacon on these targets.
From a nearby stall after paying for the drink (wouldn't want to cause another stir if caught), he watches as he leans against a counter. Yeah, he's not helping but that doesn't mean he doesn't keep an eye out for any other suspicious people. Not that he'd know who to look for specifically, but he does look for anyone making eye-contact or looking over at any fellow escapees before booking it.}
Very smooth.
{ Just talkin' to himself as he takes another drink of this...beer? Yeah, it's beer. }
[Don't mind him, just shoving this guy through the crowd and over to where the elevator for Level Four is located. Kind of like he does this sort of thing a lot. There is a bit of struggling as the escapee tries to break away but Jacob holds on. It's all pretty simple and straightforward.
That done, Jacob makes his way back to where Henry is seated]
Not as much fun as going a round with a few street thugs, I know, but satisfying when I catch them unaware.
[He did have a bit of an unfair advantage with his Eagle Vision conveniently highlighting certain people in glowing auras. Without that, he would've had a much harder time picking the escapee out of the crowd. So he orders a drink and does a normal scan of the crowd]
Hm. They've got all sorts here: people selling black market items, merchants passing off questionable drugs, thieves. I'd love to see you handle a thief or a drug merchant. [Another thoughtful scan, and he nudges Henry, nodding to the person in question] That woman there looks a bit shifty, don't you think? She may be up to no good.
{ With Jacob's precision, Henry can't help but side-eye him with a hint of a smile playing on his lips. There's more than meets the eye to this man. He'll find out one way or another, though he doesn't think the guy would hide it if he asked. }
She could be. How do you know?
{ Though he doesn't seem too worried about how the guy knows. He's already getting a move on as she relocates to a different section of the block. Not too different from Jacob's movements, he slips through the crowd which only seems to be getting thicker as time passes. His method of chasing this target down seems to be one of depleting their stamina, making the target feel paranoid and targeted as he slowly but surely chases them down until they either fuck up and hit a dead end or collapse. Sure, it takes a little longer and Jacob will probably lose sight of him for a good while, but eventually he'll see Henry lugging back a body over his shoulder towards the same elevator Jacob went. He takes out his phone. }
Think we're attracting enough attention yet?
{ If Jacob happens to look over at him, he'll wave. }
[It's an interesting tactic, to be sure. Watching, there is something a little familiar about the way Henry works. Every part of the Brotherhood has their own tools and ways so the different method doesn't really throw him. Jacob watches with interest and keeps his eyes on the pursuit as long as he can-- and as long as he does it without being obvious that he's watching.
He catches Henry and grins. Well, it's not like he hasn't had to knock out or even killed a bounty or two]
{ He only spares a glance down at his phone to type, otherwise he's staring back at Jacob without really being that subtle about it. He can be subtle...when he wants to... }
That's what I like to hear. I think I hear a commotion down this way.
{ Tilting his head down the opposite alley he'd just come from earlier, he takes off. Byeee }
[Oh, he's going to play it like that, is he? Jacob bolts out of his chair and goes running off. He tries to cut through a different alley to get to where Henry disappeared. He knocks over a few people in his haste. It's tempting for Jacob to use his rope launcher and cross large distances quicker, but that would feel a bit of a cheat.
He catches the commotion Henry mentioned and puts on a new burst of speed. He may not reach the spot first, but that's fine. The adrenaline rush from the race is enough and he can jump whatever thug is closest to him when he arrives]
