★ Level-headed — Even in the most dire of situations. Almost creepily so?
★ Sardonic — A little uppity with a pinch of dry humour, spelled in the British way, of course.
★ Opportunist — He is generally a "Jump first, asks questions later" kinda guy, but it's all about timing. Pushing the limits is a favored pastime only if it's produced similarily favorable results in the past.
★ Efficient — There's little to be gained from beating around the bush. Cleanliness and an immaculate presentation of himself falls into this category as well.

WEAKNESSES/TEMPTATIONS
★ Pride — Extremely careful about his appearances, whether it be physical or situational. In professional scenarios, this may include how his behaviour would be perceived and received in any given context. He not only takes pride in his work, but in his ability to blend into his surroundings to give away nothing about his line of work.

★ Emotional Unavailability — Being basically a Kill-For-Hire, he's learned to be more distant from people. You never know who you're gonna have to kill! That being said, it's probably fair to assume that he doesn't have much remorse for his actions to begin with if you get into this line of work and execute human beings without batting an eyelash. High chance of being psychopathic.

★ Hedonism — His greatest vice is drinking, but not to the point of alcoholism. He's not afraid to experiment with recreational drugs if in A Mood, engage in casual sex, and revel in lots of terrible things if left unchecked. If there is nothing worthwhile to occupy his time, he'll fall into a plethora of bad habits (see next bullet point).

He can jump ridiculously high, land safely from hundreds of feet up in the air without any equipment, crash through windows on a 30-story building from ambiguous trajectory, perform meteor moves that you'd only see in fantasy games, etc. Even being subject to Travis's brutal suplex wasn't enough to make him break a sweat.

PERSONALITY:
Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Henry while not being on his to-kill list would claim that he's a mild-mannered, polite, and somewhat sassy man. Nothing specific jumps out at them about him, despite being relatively handsome and well-dressed. A plain-faced Caucasian man in his early 30's? The perfect assassin.

As his last name entails (though he'll never tell you it), he's a master of keeping his cool when it matters the most. Perhaps it has something to do with his lifestyle as an assassin, or maybe it's his role as a foil to a hot-blooded protagonist that compels him, but whatever it is, he's extremely level-headed. Perhaps to a fault. Sometimes he seems too pleasant in the face of danger. As he puts up an impressively aloof front, most characters would think he's either suave and classy, or a jerk. He does act a little stuck-up. It's probably that air of European superiority. Travis, for example, upon meeting him thought he was an "ass clown" for kill-stealing (a running gag) and running, then bestowed upon him the nickname "Mister Sir Henry Motherfucker". His ability to stay calm and focused during the most bizarre of situations come in handy when facing against great odds. Ever since that fight against a possibly imaginary prepubescent anime girl with robotic arms attached to her backpack in his subconscious (that might've had real-life consequences) as his physical body shivered in bed, not much phases him. He's a consummate assassin and well-rounded fighter, knowing when to instigate, and when to go on the defense. While he prefers being more aggressive in his approach (whether it's a general situation or a specific killin' job), he understands the benefits of waiting for the right time to strike.

The disguise of a pleasant personality is one of his greatest weapons besides his actual literal weapon, which we'll get to later, as he makes himself to be as unassuming and 'normal' to everyone around him. In the wacky world of No More Heroes, his occupation as an assassin while surrounded by other assassins isn't something he bothers to keep under wraps, but he does keep up this normal persona around the general population. Eventually the city of Santa Destroy does turn "assassination games" into a spectator sport of some kind where news of it isn't uncommon, but Henry wouldn't lump himself in with that lot. At least, not anymore.

His adaptability to any situation, to steer any suspicious questions about his personal life and occupation away from him, are also tools at his disposal as he talks a lot about himself, and yet reveals little. With Travis, he tries to give the main protagonist the benefit of the doubt, but we all know how that ended (for those who haven't played the game: Travis completely doesn't recognize him, which honestly was dumb of Henry to assume in the first place). Putting on a guise of normalcy to live among the non-murdering folk comes almost naturally to him, but even he's not so foolish to think that the guise will last for long. He keeps his interactions brief, and tries to dance around touchy subjects, but all with a practiced grace of a professional liar. He almost seems normal and he almost seems to get away with it.

That being said, he's also bad at opening up to others and being completely genuine about himself...at least, to most people. It might not be very apparent in the game since his interactions are mostly with Travis, who he knows to be his only living blood relative. He's only human, so there are instances where he lets his guard down. Usually at the worst moments, it seems. For example: Something obviously distracted him enough to get his ass kicked by an opponent in the second game that he had no problems defeating in the first game (granted, the first time he killed the assassin Letz Shake was a surprise attack from above and behind— sort of a cheap shot).

He's prideful, and cares a lot about his image and appearance, so there's a lot of things he doesn't allow himself to associate with when it comes to his overall presentation and his name. Whether it's something as deep as how strong and put-together he wants to appear in front of others even when he's not, or as shallow as looking the most bad-ass as possible when fighting a boss that gets on your level, he stakes a lot on his appearances. It's best demonstrated when he and Travis team up to face off against Jasper Batt Jr. As the boss fight grows more and more ridiculous, Henry makes less of an effort to help his brother in need. He ultimately takes off with a casual pat on the shoulder, simply because he refused to associate with such a "travesty" and that he "has standards, for fuck's sake". To be involved in the take-down of what looks like the boss equivalent of a gigantic Macy's Parade balloon was certain to hurt his street cred than not, so his best bet was to bail altogether.

As an extension of his pride, he doesn't like owing anyone anything. He will go out of his way to even out the playing field as soon as he physically can. For example, being saved from near death by his "twin baby brother", was shameful enough to him that he even goes on to "help" Travis by killing his next three targets. He also leaves a long-winded voicemail explaining how he's basically too ashamed to even say any of this to Travis's face, only feeling brave (and smug) enough after he's already settled this particular score to leave a message. Not even directly converse with him over the phone, but to leave a voicemail.

In the first game, it looks like Henry is more or less motivated by challenging Travis for the invisible throne, the spot of #1. Then as the end of the game approaches and the True Ending is revealed, Henry is clearly disappointed in Travis's scaling of the ranks and how he treats the lives he's taken. So, perhaps it's a familial drive to make Travis into a better person... or a more passion-motivated drive to make Travis a better assassin. It's hard to say, exactly. There's little evidence as to why Henry does what he does, but we can only assume he does it because he's his twin brother. There's always a special bond between twin siblings, even if they're still basically strangers to one another at this point.

Another possibility is that Henry is just bored and restless. As a guy that loves to jump headfirst into dangerous situations, it's not a stretch to assume he's a thrill-junkie. If we want to get more meta, it's also his intended role to simply challenge his brother and supply that source of conflict to allow Travis to grow. A convenient plot device. They're both keenly aware of this fact, and have seem to accept this as their life as they have a small exchange about this during a cut-scene at the end of the first game. Sounds like a boring life, just waiting for things to happen, so he just throws things at the wall to see what sticks to kill time. Or kills people to kill time, whatever is convenient. At one point, he apparently felt the need to leave a trail of bodies to lure Travis to his intended destination before Henry's first appearance, so it's pretty clear he has some severe...boredom issues.

His relationship with Sylvia in the first game seems shaky at best, as he explains their odd dynamic with a disturbing sort of calm. He flippantly excuses her erratic behavior of leaving him after she's spent all his money, but had a certain amount of confidence in their relationship.

"Eh, you know how women are. Especially my wife...a really big spender. Yeah, she knew my income wasn't enough so every now and then she'd just disappear."

It's noted that they'd been married for ten years, so that's probably where the confidence comes from. He even refers to her as his soulmate, and quite seriously so. He expresses genuine shock when Travis insinuates that she's been fooling around with Travis through vulgar taunting.

In the second game, it's later revealed by Sylvia herself and she and Henry are divorced. Unfortunately, he doesn't have much to say about any of that. All we're shown is various states of minds he's in via dreams, flashes of still images, and a cryptic message from an anime child-boss in his brain claiming "[he] did not wish to go back, so [he] reached out to [her] instead". The second game seems to treat Henry's story as starting to diverge from being simply a foil to Travis, hinting at something in the distant future in terms of his personal growth. However this dream sequence is vague, and we can only extrapolate information about Henry's inner turmoil from the hints that it barely manages to give us.

As for Jeane: After confirmation from Travis Strikes Again, it's revealed that Jeane is not Henry's daughter at all. In fact, he never had any children with Sylvia as far as we know and therefore he has no relationship with her.

Note: No More Heroes is extremely meta, and constantly breaks the fourth wall. So in this case, Henry realizes that meeting his twin brother for the first time in 27 years is very important to him as a character. He's the mysterious foil, and he realizes his place, the role he plays in his brother's story (life). His opposite, yet they're very much the same. Despite his obvious disappointment in realizing Travis doesn't know who he is, he still presses on... even if it means dueling him at the last minute of the game.

★sᴛᴏɴᴇ ᴄᴏʟᴅ★

During the off-screen second fight (NMH2) against Dr. Letz Shake, Henry is defeated and entombed in carbonite a la Han Solo. Nearing death by suffocation, Travis inadvertently rescues him (he calls Henry "collateral damage" how rude) and is kinda forced to let Henry recover in his room from the thawing since Sylvia had dumped him there. He awakens to find that Travis had basically taken care of him... like, uh, taking his triple combo shirt/vest/tie/possible undershirt off? Probably from all the fever sweat, yeah. That'd be one more problem for Travis to deal with if Henry woke up sick and then remained stuck in Travis's care even longer. YEP. :') ANyway, Henry finds this to be his turning point, saying there's no honor in being rescued by his Baby Brother. This is where his issue with appearances kick in, as he proceeds to leave Travis a long voice message about how he did him a good ol' solid by killing off three of his next targets and taunting him. Ah yes, classic Henry.

★ᴏᴛʜᴇʀs ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴅɪᴅɴ'ᴛ ᴍᴀᴋᴇ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴜᴛ★

Sylvia, the woman that helps Travis get into the United Assassin's Association in the first place, is Henry's ex-wife as we learn at the very end of the first game. They divorce some time after the first game and before the second, which is three years later, so somewhere within the three years they were divorced. Henry was pretty distraught when Travis insinuated that Sylvia was unfaithful (does that kiss in the cut-scene after killing Harvey count?), so maybe this came as a shock to him? Or maybe it was inevitable? Maybe his state of mind had something to do with how he got defeated by such a lame-brain (heh) boss? We'll never know, which is why I don't necessarily feel like it applies to this section but felt it was worth describing anyway.

His fight with Mimmy also seems to shed quite a bit of light onto Henry's state of mind, but the cut-scene is so infuriatingly vague that it doesn't offer much in terms of his characterization. It's all speculation/extrapolation/head-canon at this point.

She's a small blonde child, who appears at the end of the NMH1's credits with Sylvia, looking up at a picture of Travis and Henry together. Whether she influences any of his actions is pure speculation, but I feel it's also worth mentioning.

Oh, and money is also a great motivator. He kills for that coin. 👌

WHAT IMPRESSION DO OTHERS TEND TO HAVE OF YOUR CHARACTER?:

They're subtle differences for the most part, but he's a thrill junkie with a passion for the kill, so despite being quite suave, murder is hardly classy. The second part is pretty much true. He can be a dick.

HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER HANDLE CRISIS OR ADVERSITY?:
With supposed ease. His ability to stay calm and focused during the most stressful of situations come in handy, even when facing against great odds. Ever since that fight against a prepubescent anime girl with robot arms in his subconscious (that might've possibly had real-life consequences) as his physical body is shivering in bed, not much phases him. He's both an instigator and passive fighter when needed and reacts accordingly, and although he's more active in his approach, he understands the benefits of waiting for the right time to strike.

WHICH 5 THINGS WILL YOUR CHARACTER REMEMBER UPON ARRIVAL, AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THEM?:
★ He will remember that he has an estranged twin brother named Travis (but not as an assassin), and that he'd met him for the first time when they were 27 (they're currently 30 years old). Travis's appearance in his life is still extremely new, and to have that stripped away makes him a Stranger. Which makes Henry more aloof and reserved around him. While that's not bad at all in the least in terms of characterization, it's not very fun for me. As for not remembering Travis's occupation (and in turn, his own), it makes for a subtle difference in how Henry acts/reacts around non-murdering folks VS the murder-biz folks.

★ He'll remember the time Travis tended to him after having a near-death experience. Even if the bloke was crass about it. It's one of their first baby steps towards acknowledging each other as family rather than straight-up rivals.

★ He had a wife and kid, but they divorced after ten years of marriage. She has custody of the child. This makes it so that if she is ever applied for in this game, it would still make sense and integrate easily into the game. I like the added family angst, and it's also funny that most people don't expect him to be a father. Albeit a shitty one.

★ At one point, he helped Travis out of a jam during a big fight. The details are fuzzy (OOC-wise, it's just such a bizarre situation that trying to justify what'd happened during that fight would be like trying to rationalize a weird dream).

★ He remembers training with a light saber for a good chunk of his life because he's a dweeb. He doesn't remember the real reasoning behind it, just that he really liked the aesthetic of it and was fond of swordsmanship.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU FEEL WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER?:

RP Pace:
Pretty slow lately, due to full-time school schedule (Mon~Fri, 8am to 12pm) and work on Mon, Wed, and Sundays at night. I can boomerang during the small gap between Thurs and Sat sporadically, but lately I've been keeping my RP load light so that I don't have to backtag so much.
RP Style:
I generally tag in present tense, but if I'm tagging into someone else's post/thread, I follow the OP's style. Brackets, prose, they're all good.
Backtagging:
Backtags and boomerangs are both welcome. I'm good for all of em.

RP preferences:
I like to plan and improvise, it really depends on the subject and/or if there's a specific CR development that we want to work on. When it comes to threading smut, I like to plan a little beforehand, just so I know how to make my characters react, what actions to take, etc. Henry thinks too much, I'm sorry in advance. I've been cutting back on monologues though because of trying to manage my time better (I used to take hours on a tag), so they won't be as long as they used to be.
Language style:
Dirtier the better, but I guess that depends on the character. Henry is pretty in-between, so it could be dirty or flowery.

His opinion on his status hasn't really changed much, but he prefers it much more than being a mongrel. He's a "take advantage of your situation" kind of guy. He still sympathizes and feigns concern, but he doesn't particularly care. It's just not his problem at the moment.

Occupation:
Previously worked under the scarta, until Claudia disappeared. She came back, but then disappeared again, so he's not doing a lot of kill jobs. Voice:
It's terrible because Quinton Flynn's Irish accent is considered to be pretty bad? It's debatable. His voice changes from the first game vs the second game a bit. I tend to stick with his first game's voice, but when he gets angry or emotional, it gets kind of rougher like it sounds in the second game.

THE DIRTY(ISH) SECTION

Sexual preference:
Bisexual with a preference towards women. He can see himself dating a woman and/or being romantically into women more often than men. He'll form an attraction, sleep with, and even maintain strong friendships with men but doesn't see himself actively dating or being especially romantic with them (until something drastic and/or dramatic happens).
Where they fall on the D/s spectrum:
A switch, and tends to go with the flow. If his partner is more likely to top, he lets them top and vice versa. It's not to say he would let them all the time, but he just responds to aggressiveness very well.
