[And so after work he'll make a point to come into the waiting room and sits down with a sigh. He'll wait until Henry's done with what ever he's doing at his desk to beckon him over to the seats there.]
[ The workload is light today, so he doesn't really linger after he finishes whatever file he's looking over and moves to the waiting room. He takes a seat across from Gyro, patting his knees once and shrugging slightly. ]
[A glance down, his elbows on his knees, hands together, leaning over his lap a little. Gyro glances up to the door, then back to Henry.]
Babies.
[That word should bring a few things to mind for Henry. Aside from whatever his personal feelings are on babies, it'll also bring up Guardian. It'll bring up how they know now that no children are there, and so, where have they been going? Where are they now? It'll also bring up work. How often they take blood tests here and Henry looks at the paperwork. How often they find people here are sterile or near it, or that nearly 100% of the time women are not pregnant and how strange that is. To never get pregnant women in here. And when they do, a lot of the time they never see from them again, but how many times has that even happened, once?
'Babies' is far more deep a topic now. Though of course, even as serious as he is right now, he brings it up in a sort of silly way. Maybe it's his way of calming down his nerves... maybe.]
[ Yeahhhh, 'babies' isn't what Henry had been expecting to hear from him, but the fact that it does bring up some heavy topics is more than true. Working in a clinic, you see all sorts of people and all sorts of situations, but nothing more unusual than the topic of reproduction.
Even if Gyro does bring it up in an abrupt, almost silly, way. ]
Babies.
[ He'll just let the guy elaborate first before asking any specific questions, though. ]
Or they will. And I mean to find one and see what happens.
That's why I need to talk to you. Our records are already secret... but I'm going to keep my eye out for blood work that marks positive for pregnancy. And when I find a good match, I plan to keep it even more of a secret.
If it means the girl has to come in every week to check in, if it means buying her clothes to make sure she's hidden when she's starting to show, that's gonna be what I have to do. And since you'll know about it either way, I knew I had to talk to you about it.
[ Interesting. As much as he enjoyed having something to do with his time everyday, sometimes it can still have its stale moments. So a little incognito work, keeping things under wraps, secrecy in general... this sounds fun. The fact that Gyro has trust in him to keep this sort of stuff safe is almost amazing, but... this isn't Santa Destroy. Hell, the Guardian thing isn't even BM-related (as far as he knows), so he has nothing to worry about.
And important, too, of course. Yeah. Gotta keep the kids and their mothers safe. ]
I'll keep anything I see off the regular records charts for you, then. A separate manual folder locked away in a safe or something, since it'll be hard to keep things under wraps when so much shite is digital around here.
[It's good to hear the guy's going to work with him on this a little bit. Even if Henry doesn't outright help a lot of time with who ever this girl might be, just keeping certain records hidden away was better than nothing. The words make Gyro sit back, relaxing despite the subject.]
I'll be looking for someone who's already been hiding it. Since once a woman here is found to be pregnant, the government monitors her. So this'll be someone that's been hiding it and comes to us instead. Better than waiting the full nine months. But since it's rare anyway, we'll keep track of all the pregnant women's records in this way and 'advise' them to continue treatment with a more private clinic like ours, one not associated with the government.
Though anyone hiding their baby's already on that, might be more cases than not out of the pregnant women we find. After guardian? I can't imagine a lot of women will allow themselves to be monitored like before.
[ Yeah, with the whole Guardian debacle, they may actually seen an increase in pregnant women entering the clinics in these areas. Hell, even elites might come out into Midas for more low-key procedures as well.
He nods a little. ]
So, is your plan to help these women keep any news of their newborns under the radar until they're old enough to avoid notice from the government?
No, until they have the baby and can't hide it anymore anyway. No idea what we're supposed to do when that happens, but we need to see what does. So when they have the baby, we'll have them stay here a while and then we'll send a help nurse with them to attend. Or I'll do it myself.
I've got no idea what happens when the authorities hear a baby crying. And unless we have some sort of cry-proof building ourselves, there's nothing we can do about it.
So we wait and see. [Shrugging up his hands a little as he sits back.]
Cry-proof. [ It sounds funnier when he repeats it back like that, but it's a valid point. Maybe someone around here knows how to build stuff like that. ]
Well, hopefully more concrete ideas will come up before then. I wouldn't want to be caught in a situation unprepared. In the meantime, I'm curious- who else would you let in on this operation?
[ The fewer the people that knew, the better, he assumes. At least Gyro will have less people to keep track of if he has any worries of the word getting out. ]
Alright, makes sense. If I wish to talk more about this at a later time, what sort of communication system do you propose? Just after hours?
